Art Nouveau whimsical shield brooch

This art nouveau revival brooch is by Andreas Daub, a jewellery company established in 1872 in Pforzheim, Germany. The shield shaped body is made of open scrolling forms, finished with engraved dotted lines, a small fan of petals at the centre and a coiled spiral at the base. A smooth teardrop hangs from the bottom on a small link, so it moves and dances as you do. The craftsmanship is very detailed, and the whimsical shape works pinned to a coat or worn in the hair (tied to a hair band)!!
